Osteopathy

What if your pain, discomfort, or fatigue wasn’t the end of the story but the beginning of something better ?

Osteopathy is more than hands-on treatment. It’s a way of thinking. It’s a way of understanding your body as a whole, finding the hidden connections behind your symptoms, and unlocking your body’s natural ability to heal.

For many people, it’s been life changing. For some, it’s been the answer they’ve been searching for after years of unanswered questions.

Why Osteopathy Works Differently

Your body is an interconnected system: bones, muscles, nerves, circulation, organs, emotions, all influencing each other. Osteopathy doesn’t just chase symptoms. We look for the root causes: the physical, mechanical, and sometimes subtle patterns that hold you back from full health. By working with your body’s structure, we can influence its function by restoring balance, mobility, and vitality.

From long-standing aches to complex and stubborn conditions, this whole-person approach can make all the difference.

Description of each session:

Session 1 – Up to 90 minutes

  • Functional medicine style consultation

  • Sport sciences health assessment

Your journey begins with writing your story. This is where the Functional Medicine style consultation shines. The goal is to gather detailed information about your unique life history and identify obstacles to optimal health.

Following this, your clinician will conduct a range of Sport Sciences assessments and a thorough physical examination to gauge your overall health and establish a baseline for tracking progress.

Session 2 – Up to 60 minutes

  • Osteopathic assessment

  • Initial treatment

This session focuses on assessing your body through an osteopathic lens. It includes a postural evaluation, analysis of movement quality, and identification of key dysfunctions or weak links.

You will receive a diagnosis, a clear treatment direction, and lifestyle and nutritional advice based on findings from the first session. Most patients will also receive their first osteopathic treatment during this consultation.

Session 3 – Up to 60 minutes

  • Personalised exercise programme

  • Initial sports massage

Your final session includes a functional movement assessment to build on everything gathered so far. You will receive a Personalised Exercise Programme, followed by your first tailored Sports Massage.

A brief history of Osteopathy

Osteopathy was first created on June 22nd, 1874, by Dr Andrew Taylor Still, an American physician and surgeon. It was then imported to London in 1917 by one of Dr Still’s students John Martin Littlejohn where he opened the first school of osteopathy in Europe. Since then, London and the UK have remained one of the most influential and leading forces behind the development of Osteopathy as an integral part of the modern healthcare system.

Osteopathy has proudly survived the test of time, and Osteopaths are nowadays widely employed within the National Health Service to serve a variety of duties from Musculoskeletal specialists to First Contact Practitioners and Associate Physicians.
